Privacy Policy — UFind Lite
Summary
UFind Lite has no user accounts and never asks for personal information. Everything it discovers about the Bluetooth devices around you — their names, addresses, signal strengths and distances — stays on your device. To improve the app it uses Google Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data. That is the only information that leaves your phone.
Handled on your device only
- Nearby devices (Bluetooth scanning) — the app listens for Bluetooth advertisements to build the list of what is around you. Device names, manufacturers, Bluetooth addresses and signal strengths are read, shown to you, and discarded when you close the app. None of it is transmitted, stored off-device, or linked to you.
- Bluetooth connections — when you open a device that accepts connections, the app may connect briefly to read its signal strength more steadily than advertisements allow. It reads signal strength only. No data is exchanged with the device and nothing is transmitted.
- Camera — used only while you are walking towards a device, so Google ARCore can work out how far your phone has physically moved and turn that into a direction. Camera frames are processed on your device in real time and are never recorded, stored or transmitted. The background image shown on that screen is a deliberately unrecognisable thumbnail rendered on-device. The app works without camera permission; only the direction arrow is unavailable.
- Motion sensors — ARCore reads the accelerometer and gyroscope at a high sampling rate to track that movement. Nothing is transmitted.
- Vibration — used only for the proximity feedback as you get closer.
Location
UFind Lite never asks for location permission and cannot access your location. Android normally
treats Bluetooth scanning as location-capable; the app declares
neverForLocation, which tells the system it does not derive location from scan
results, so the location permission is never requested.
Analytics (Google Firebase)
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used and where the search fails, so we can improve it. The events we send record what was used and how it went — for example that a search started, that a device was opened, how long a hunt took, the approximate distance and proximity band at the time, and whether it ended in “Found it!” or “Can’t find!”.
Bluetooth addresses and device names are never sent. No information identifying the devices around you, or you, leaves the phone.
Two events carry text you typed. If you choose Can’t find! and add an optional note, that note is sent with the reason you selected, so we can learn what went wrong. Please do not put personal information in it. Search terms are reported only as the length of what you typed and how many devices matched — never the words themselves.
Firebase also collects device and diagnostic information and a random, app-generated instance identifier used to count unique installs. It does not collect your name, email, contacts, precise location, or advertising ID. There are no ads and no user profiles. This data is processed by Google on our behalf and transmitted securely. Data sharing and sale
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising.
Children
The app is not directed at children.

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted at this page with a new effective date.
